This week I read the chosen text alongside a set of slides.
I had wanted to make a stand alone ‘video’ presentation, with a recording of my voice, but could not make a recording I was happy with. Mostly due to bad mics and fidgeting!
I also felt it might be more engaging (and a little less alien) if I read the text live today and moved through the slides as needed.

I have used some of the typesetting experiments from the first week to illustrate the reading, something like lecture slides though a bit more playful maybe a bit too indirect.
I wanted to produce something that was animated, with a bit more of a life and as a standalone video, but my skills with the editing software means progress was too slow so ended up making frames in inDesign so I could quickly play around with the typeset visuals for each small section of the text.

I’ve highlighted the end notes where I think they are adding to the argument and brought in some other references and also texts from other parts of the Aesthetic Programming book. In parts of the presentation I make my reasoning explicit, but not sure if that works or is needed. Also after making all this I have the feeling its just all too text heavy and that maybe the only thing I’ve done that helps push/show the text toward a new audience is to read it aloud… which I suppose at least has some slight access benefits

Have I managed to bring any new meaning through this presentation? I think I’ve just further complicated it.
